Kambo Contraindications
Are there any reasons why it may not be safe to receive Kambo?
Yes, definitely. There are certain circumstances (“contraindications”) in which it is considered clearly unsafe to receive Kambo. These are listed below. If any of these apply to you, please do not seek any kind of Kambo treatment, as the consequences could be severe and potentially fatal.
Contraindications *
The following may not safely receive Kambo:
- People with serious (or potentially serious) heart issues, including an irregular heartbeat, a diagnosed heart condition or previous cardiac event
- People who have had a stroke
- People on medication for low blood pressure
- People who have had a brain hemorrhage
- People who have had aneurysms or blood clots
- People who lack the mental capacity to make the decision to take Kambo
- People who have been diagnosed with a serious mental health condition excluding depression and anxiety
- People undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy for 4 – 6 weeks afterward
- People who take immune-suppressants for an organ transplant
- Women who are pregnant or may be so
- Women who are breast-feeding a child under 6 months old
- People with Addison’s disease
- People with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
- People with current and severe Epilepsy
- People recovering from a major surgical procedure
- Minors (under 18)
- Animals
If you are unsure about whether any of these apply to you, please ask your doctor.
In addition to the above, there are other circumstances which are not automatically disqualifying, but where caution and further discussion with your practitioner are essential. These are not listed here, but appear as questions in the Kambo Intake Form, which can be completed after your discovery call.
